What we have in common as human beings is a need for food. What our bodies have in common is a need for nourishment. Meals in the Meantime provides food that sustains well-being while honoring the humanity of who we serve.
Our pop-up food pantries take us directly into communities we serve. We are meeting the need for food support and assistance with “boots on the ground”. Our goal is making food accessible in underserved communities.
We cannot do it alone. Partnerships and volunteers help fulfill our mission. From providing locations for pop-up food pantries to unloading trucks, packing bags, and passing out food, partners and volunteers help us fill the food gap with nourishment and dignity.
Our bags of food include fresh fruits and vegetables, proteins, grains, and other healthy food items. Each bag contains an information card that describes the nutritional value of each food item. Pantry visitors are educated and informed about food that supports health living.
“If you had told me starting a nonprofit to help people who need food is part of the plan for my life, I would have said, ‘Who? Me? Start a nonprofit?’, and yet, here I am. Meals in the Meantime is a divinely inspired assignment and one I happily accept. Connecting people who need food with the food they need is deeply personal, important work and gives me a great deal of joy and fulfillment.”
