Meals in the Meantime connects people who need food with the food they need. Our pop-up food pantries are mobile and keeps us connected with the communities we serve. We provide free, fresh, healthy, high-quality food while honoring the humanity and dignity of people who need help with food.
Our first pop-up food pantry was on May 27, 2021, in Park Forest, Illinois. We gave 150 boxes of food from the USDA Farmers to Families program in the midst of the global pandemic. Since then, we’ve helped people who need food in Chicagoland south suburbs with 2,000+ bags/boxes of food and 14+ tons of fresh fruits and vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy products.
Here is an example of what you'll find in a Meals in the Meantime grocery bag: gluten-free, heart-healthy cereal (lowers cholesterol), plant-based milk (lactose-free), orange juice (vitamin C), turkey breakfast sausage and sliced turkey (protein), bananas (potassium), apples (fiber), baby carrots and cherry tomatoes (healthy snack food), whole wheat bread (promotes healthy digestion).
